🚀 Getting Started

How do I get started with Money Monit?

Welcome! Start by setting up your accounts in Account > Manage Accounts. Add your bank accounts, cash wallets, or credit cards. Then create categories to organize your spending, and you're ready to track transactions!

What's the best way to organize my finances?

  2. Set up categories that match your spending habits
  3. Create a monthly budget to track your spending limits
  4. Log transactions regularly for accurate tracking

Can I use Money Monit on multiple devices?

Yes! Your data syncs across all devices where you're logged in with the same account. Simply log in on any device to access your financial data.

How do I install Money Monit on my phone?

On iPhone: Open Safari, visit moneymonit.com, tap the Share button, then "Add to Home Screen".

On Android: Open Chrome, visit moneymonit.com, tap the menu (three dots), then "Add to Home Screen" or "Install App".

🔁 Transactions

How do I add a new transaction?

Tap the + button at the bottom of the screen, or go to History and tap the add button. Fill in the amount, select a category and account, then save.

What's the difference between Expense, Income, and Transfer?

Expense: Money going out (purchases, bills, payments)

Income: Money coming in (salary, refunds, gifts)

Transfer: Moving money between your own accounts (e.g., savings to checking)

Can I edit or delete a transaction?

Yes! Tap on any transaction to view details, then use the edit or delete options. Note that this will update your account balances accordingly.

How do recurring transactions work?

Recurring transactions are for regular expenses or income like rent, subscriptions, or salary. Go to Account > Recurring Transactions to set them up. You can choose daily, weekly, monthly, or yearly frequencies.

💰 Budgets

How do I create a budget?

Go to Home > Budgets or navigate through the Budget icon. Set your monthly spending limit and add budget lines for specific categories you want to track.

How is budget progress calculated?

Budget progress shows how much you've spent versus your limit. It's automatically calculated from your transactions in the selected categories during the budget period.

What happens when I exceed my budget?

When you exceed a budget limit, the progress bar turns red and shows the overspent amount. You'll also see this highlighted in your insights.

👥 Group Expenses

What are group expenses?

Group expenses help you track shared costs with friends, family, or roommates. Create a group, add members, and log expenses that are split among the group.

How do I split an expense?

Open a group and tap Add Expense. Enter who paid, the amount, and how to split it:

  • Equally - divide evenly among all members
  • By percentage - assign custom percentages
  • By exact amounts - specify how much each person owes
How do I settle up with someone?

From the group page, tap Settle Up. Select who is paying whom and enter the amount. The settlement will update everyone's balances.

🎯 Savings Goals

How do savings goals work?

Create a savings goal with a target amount and optional deadline. Track your progress by adding contributions. Great for planning vacations, emergency funds, or big purchases.

How do I create a savings goal?

Go to Account > Savings Goals and tap +. Enter a name, target amount, optional deadline, and choose an icon to represent your goal.

Can I have multiple savings goals?

Absolutely! Create as many goals as you need - vacation fund, emergency savings, new car, home down payment, etc.

🔒 Privacy & Security

Is my financial data secure?

Yes! Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest. We use industry-standard security practices to protect your information.

Can I export my data?

Absolutely! Go to Account > Export Data to download your financial data in CSV format.

Who can see my data?

Only you can see your personal financial data. Group expenses are shared only with members you invite to that specific group.
